Alzheimer / Dementia Unit

The CHSLD Wales  Inc. has a 46-bed Alzheimer’s care unit. These Alzheimer's units cater to the special needs of those suffering from dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease. Personnel working on these units have received training in order to better understand the individual needs of this type of clientele. The daily routines are adapted to better respond to the needs of the residents. Activities are designed to stimulate residents, cognitively, physically, socially, and psychologically. Daily routines and exercises are geared to meet the needs of these individuals: small frequent meals, bathing  and exercise, i.e. walking outside or small group activities to accommodate residents in these units.

Options:
Although all the rooms are furnished, and semi private rooms are equipped with a 36” flat-screen TV, the residents are welcome to bring a few familiar items such as a favorite chair, bed quilt , pictures or a television if residing in a private room.
