Greetings from the activity department. March was another busy month. We are happy to have two stagiaires working with us – Eliza Jane Stevens and Noemi Beauregard. Painting classes resumed this month and in addition to our usual monthly activities, here are some of our highlights.

A breakfast outing to the Deli-Train Restaurant in Richmond was enjoyed on the morning of the 2nd. On the afternoon of the 2nd, a Daniel O’Donnell movie was shown in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Refreshments were also served. On the afternoon of the 3rd, World Day of Prayer was held in the living room. This year’s featured country was the Philippines. After the readings by Carol Ann McElrea,… Continue reading

Hello,

I wanted to take an opportunity to tell you more about our involvement around the Home.

We are a Volunteer Group of Ladies who organize the Friday Teas and the Birthday Teas. We do the Infirmary Teas, operate the Tuck Shop and hold our Annual Fundraising Event: The White Elephant Sale, the Food Sale, An Afternoon Tea, and the ‘Silent Auction.’ All money raised from this event is allocated to the Different Departments at the Wales Home for the Benefit of the Residents. This year’s annual fundraiser is happening on Saturday, May 27th.

Thank you for your support.

February arrived in a flurry of busyness. For our front of house expansion, it meant a significant change to the look of the building. We are pleased to see walls going up and cannot wait to see this project through to completion, which should be in September 2017.

Here are some of the highlights from our activity department:

Episodes of The Waltons were shown in the main living room on the big screen on the afternoon of the 3rd. The movie You’ve Got Mail was shown on the afternoon of the 6th. A Youtube music afternoon was enjoyed on the 9th. Pennie Lynch held a bake/craft sale on the afternoon of the 11th at the Home.… Continue reading

Despite the snowy weather we have had lately, the Wales Home Foundation’s annual golf tournament planning is already underway! The tournament is one of the biggest annual fundraisers for the Foundation, which generates funds for the Wales Home in order to continue to provide excellent quality services and care to seniors. The tournament is always lots of fun for volunteers and players alike, thanks to the kindness and generosity of community members. The 2017 tournament will be held on Thursday, August 24th, 2017 at Golf & académie Longchamp in Sherbrooke. If you or anyone you know would like to play in the tournament, attend the banquet supper, or support the tournament in any way, or if you require additional information,… Continue reading

The new year has begun at the Home and all departments throughout the home have been bustling with busyness – including our construction crew which is working on our ‘Front of House’ expansion. Here are just some of January’s highlights.

The Christmas decorations came down this month and hearts, teddy bears and cupid’s arrow began appearing around the home in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

We re-launched knitter’s club on the 2nd. It is a chance for residents to get together and enjoy this craft in each other’s company on a weekly basis. Friday teas resumed on the 6th after a December hiatus due to all the holiday activities.

A jewellery sale was held in… Continue reading
