On April 6th, The Wales Home Foundation’s Annual Campaign Closing took place in the main living room. Thank you to everyone who supports the Foundation. Brief speeches highlighting the past, present and future of the home were given by Ralph Farley, Brendalee Piironen and this year’s campaign chairman Jordan Arshinoff Foss. The goal for the campaign was surpassed. Refreshments were served and a trio of musicians played.

The Wales Home is proud to announce they were the winners of the gold honor in the “Gala Reconnaissance Estrie”!!! Friday, February 22, 2013 the winners of seven categories were announced at the Palais des Sports in Sherbrooke in celebration of the 27th anniversary Gala Reconnaissance Estrie.

The Gala Reconnaissance Estrie is intended to recognize and reward excellence in businesses in the greater Estrie region.  Prizes are given to companies/businesses that have achieved success during the past year. Applications are evaluated by experts from major financial institutions and accounting firms Sherbrooke. The Sherbrooke Chamber of Commerce is proud to be associated with this prestigious event, which is the second largest gala of business people in Quebec.

The Wales Home has recently implemented another Best Practice, AeroScout’s Real-Time Location System (RTLS). RTLS is a wireless infrastructure which monitors resident wandering and helps increase independence while creating a secure homelike environment.

For months, The Wales Home actively competed in the Aviva Insurance Community Fund competition. This Canada-wide competition provided one million dollars in funding to 10 projects which AVIVA judged would have a fundamental impact on the community at large. The Wales Home’s Therapeutic Garden project was the sole winner in Quebec amongst the initial 1724 projects! The Wales Home was recently awarded $97 000.00 towards the creation of the beautiful therapeutic garden located adjacent to the renovated Alzheimer’s wing. The garden is designed to support the needs of Alzheimer’s patients, its care providers, family members and friends, within a secure Milieu de Vie environment.
