February 2017’s Wales Home News

by: Rebecca Taylor

February arrived in a flurry of busyness. For our front of house expansion, it meant a significant change to the look of the building. We are pleased to see walls going up and cannot wait to see this project through to completion, which should be in September 2017.

Here are some of the highlights from our activity department:

Episodes of The Waltons were shown in the main living room on the big screen on the afternoon of the 3rd. The movie You’ve Got Mail was shown on the afternoon of the 6th. A Youtube music afternoon was enjoyed on the 9th. Pennie Lynch held a bake/craft sale on the afternoon of the 11th at the Home. A Valentine’s story and Youtube music afternoon took place on the 13th. Volunteers did a Valentine’s mobile craft with residents on the afternoon of the 14th. On the 16th a Valentine’s Day Dance with music by the Late Bloomers was enjoyed in the main dining room. Boutique Diane held a clothing sale in the living room on the 18th. A nursing care units tea was held on the afternoon of the 22nd. Music was provided by John and Sylvia Luxton. On the afternoon of the 23rd, a musical and storytelling presentation by Francine Beaubien and Nick Fonda was held in the main living room. The Roxton Singers returned to perform for residents on the evening of the 27th.

The February birthday party was hosted by the Wales Home Ladies Auxiliary on the afternoon of the 15th. Happy birthday to all celebrants. Special wishes are extended to Mildred Cameron who turned 100 years’ young.

Welcome to Betty Retchless. Our sympathies are extended to the family and friends of Gordon Budning and Charlie Ross. Charlie was involved on committees and with the Wales Home Foundation for many years and we are grateful for the assistance and expertise that he offered.
