Special Education Technician

SALARY: $24.78 TO $35.67 HOURLY

Job description

The role of the Special Education Technician is to create a climate of trust in order to provide the necessary help to the residents and facilitate their integration into their new living environment.  Among other things, they will observe and analyze the behaviors of the residents, participate in the assessment of their needs, develop an intervention plan to promote their adaptation, facilitate individual and/or group activities and carry out periodic evaluations to monitor these individuals.

Wanted profile

  • Must hold a college diploma (DEC) in Special Education Techniques
  • Good knowledge of English and French (written and spoken)
  • Two years of experience, an asset

Responsabilities :

  • Provides support to residents, particularly those with behavioral issues.
  • Completes observation with the use of different tools such as grid and behavioral reports.
  • Recommends and implements strategies to improve residents’ behavior.
  • Provides individual stimulation activities to all residents, focusing on residents with behavioral issues.
  • Collaborates with the care team to comply with the prevention and control of infection instructions for residents to prevent the development of disturbing behaviors and prevent deconditioning.
  • Plans and adheres to programming in their area of activity.
  • Stimulates and maintains the interest of residents in various areas of activity (physical, entertainment, intellectual, social, expressive, creative, and activities of daily living).
  • Works in collaboration with other team members and provides support when required.
  • Participates in meetings where their presence is required.
