Hello,
I hope you had a magical holiday season with your loved ones. At the beginning of the new year, we often make resolutions; if you have, I hope you accomplish your goals this year! If, like me, you have not made any, we have one less thing to stress about! Resolutions aside, I wish you health, happiness, love, and peace throughout 2023.
RECRUITMENT:
Non-Clinical and Clinical Positions:
We are interviewing candidates that applied for and meet the requirements for the various positions. On both schedules, we were able to recruit a few employees, which is good news!
We found a CHSLD Activity Coordinator! As mentioned in my memo on Thursday, December 22nd, 2022, Chelsea Morin assumed this position on Monday, December 19th, 2022. I wish her the best of luck with her new position's challenges!
Administration Positions:
The Nursing Director recruitment is still ongoing. We did two interviews; one candidate is moving through the hiring process. The next steps will take place at the beginning of January 2023.
Interviews were done for the two Unit Manager positions, and we will have at least one other on Monday, January 9th, 2023. Among the various candidates interviewed, we will likely offer positions to one or two of them; I will keep you posted.
The Executive Assistant position is still posted, but no candidates have applied. I want to thank Sonya Riel for doing tasks related to this position, as the Unit Managers are not yet here.
The two Huma Resources (HR) positions, the Agent and Technician - Scheduling have been filled. Natasha Taylor started on Monday, December 12th, 2022 as our Administrative Technician and Katy St-Cyr will start on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023 as the HR Agent. For more information, please see the memos I sent on Thursday, December 22nd, 2022. We are confident that both will do a great job in HR.
Richard Whitbread was helping HR and worked his last day on Friday, December 16th, 2022. Carolyn Leonard and Micheline Jones are still available for consultation. With Katy's arrival, we expect to gradually reduce their help to the large international recruitment files, as our harmonization will make this process more strenuous.
HR AND FINANCE DEPARTMENT REORGANIZATION:
With the HR and Finance Departments being complete in January 2023, we will be able to officially reorganize HR and transfer responsibilities to the correct person according to each employee's new job description. Early in the month, we will meet to prepare each employee for their transition so Amanda Gunter can transfer to the Finance Department, wherein she will do the pays and fill the remaining two to three days per week with accounting tasks. Until you receive further information, please continue to refer to the same people as usual.

You can also find them in the COVID-19 binders on each unit and on Public under Q:\COVID-19 BINDERS\BINDER. Minor changes were implemented and are highlighted in yellow, the most important being that N95 masks are no longer required upon your return to work. If you are under strict isolation at work, you can have your breaks in the Chapel.

HUMAN RESOURCES INDICATORS FROM SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH, 2022 TO SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3RD, 2022
The following information was presented to the CHSLD Board of Directors and RPA Executive Committee. The following list contains the highlights from this report:
- Globally, we hired four new employees and three left; we have one fewer Activity Coordinator and one more Food Services employee. The non-clinical schedule is still applying the Contingency Plan and using agency workers
- Compared with the last As the Wales Turns edition, shifts left uncovered were stable at 2.6 percent ir seventy-four shifts; these statistics are good as we had more employees off work due to COVID-19, eighteen additional shifts than the last period. On the other hand, overtime increased slightly, likely for the same reason; COVID-19 isolations require five days away from work
- We have 22.6 uncovered positions, including 5.6 in Administration. The table below shows these uncovered positions' impact:
Administration | Clinical and Non-Clinical Schedules | ||
Uncovered Positions | Uncovered Shifts Per Week | Uncovered Positions | Uncovered Shifts Per Week |
5.6 (stable) | 28 (stable) | 17 (↑2) | 73 (↑13) |
- During this period, seven employees tested positive for COVID-19, five more than the previous period, leading to eighteen last-minute replacements
- Call-ins increased forty-one percent with seventeen more for a total of fifty-eight. Considering that we had more employees who tested positive for COVID-19 leading to eighteen shifts to replace, an increase of seventeen call-ins needs to be considered stable. The premiums active this summer, including $200.00 for working a shift on your weekend off, help reduce call-ins because absences prevent access to these premiums. Here are the highlights:
- The day with the most call-ins was Wednesdau, November 23rd, 2022 with six. The following dates had three call-ins:
- Monday, November 7th, 2022
- Thursday, November 10th, 2022
- Wednesday, November 16th, 2022
- Friday, November 18th, 2022
- Monday, November 21st, 2022
- Tuesday, Movember 22nd, 2022
- Friday, November 25th, 2022
- Dyring this period, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays were the days with the most call-ins
- Call-ins significantly decreased on Manning and Shaw 2. An increase is noted on Norton 2 and Central
- Call-ins increased significantly on day shift
- The day with the most call-ins was Wednesdau, November 23rd, 2022 with six. The following dates had three call-ins:
- Overall, overtime slightly increased. The increase is noted for caregivers, LPNs, Food Services, and HR

To those numbers, we need to add seven employees who were off due to COVID-19, an increase of five. Thirty-one people, a decrease of four, therefore, were absent during this period, spread across different job titles:

- One housekeeper, a decrease of one
- Two clinical aides (stable)
- Seventeen caregivers, an increase of five
- Five LPNs, a decrease of one
- One nurse (stable)

We are pleased to welcome:
- Alexandre Decoste and France Arcand in Food Services
- Natasha Taylor as the Administrative Technician - Scheduling
- Katy St-Cyr as the HR Agent
Uncovered Positions:
We had the following uncovered positions:
- 5.6 full-time Administration positions: Nursing Director, two Unit Managers, and two employees in HR according to our new organization, HR Agent and Administrative Technician - Scheduling. Until we fill these HR positions, the Administrative Technician - Payroll and General Accounting is uncovered. These positions represent twenty-eight shifts per week, a decrease of two
- Five Food Services positions for a total of twenty-four shifts per week, an increase of five
- One clinical aide for a total of four shifts per week (stable)
- Seven caregivers for a total of thirty-three shifts per week, an increase of one
- One LPN for a total of five shifts per week, an increase of five
- Three nurses for a total of five shifts per week (stable)

There were fifty-eight call-ins, an increase of seventeen or forty-one percent compared with the last period. Variations of more than fifty percent are highlighted below. We need to be very careful and look at the numbers and not just the percentages:
