Greetings from the activity department. March was another busy month. We are happy to have two stagiaires working with us – Eliza Jane Stevens and Noemi Beauregard. Painting classes resumed this month and in addition to our usual monthly activities, here are some of our highlights.

 

A breakfast outing to the Deli-Train Restaurant in Richmond was enjoyed on the morning of the 2nd. On the afternoon of the 2nd, a Daniel O’Donnell movie was shown in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Refreshments were also served. On the afternoon of the 3rd, World Day of Prayer was held in the living room. This year’s featured country was the Philippines. February arrived in a flurry of busyness. For our front of house expansion, it meant a significant change to the look of the building. We are pleased to see walls going up and cannot wait to see this project through to completion, which should be in September 2017.

 

Here are some of the highlights from our activity department:

Episodes of The Waltons were shown in the main living room on the big screen on the afternoon of the 3rd. The movie You’ve Got Mail was shown on the afternoon of the 6th. It was a busy month at the Wales Home as outside the leaves changed from green to shades of reds, yellows and oranges. Painting classes with Marie-Lyne Fontaine and Friday teas resumed this month after a summer hiatus.

 

On the 1st residents and their drivers enjoyed an outing to the Deli Train Restaurant in Richmond.

On the afternoon of the 7th, residents enjoyed a chance to get together at door 6 and have a corn husking bee. The corn was enjoyed for dinner the next day. On the 1st we had a student Brogan Keenan begin to work in the activity department. He spent three weeks with us We also have our summer student Vanessa Johnston who continues to work with us as well as numerous volunteers who help out in so many incredible ways. At the end of the month, Vanessa began a stage with school in the activity department so will be with us until December and we’re delighted.
