A New Year at the Wales Home and tons of activities are on the horizon for 2018. Here are just some of the highlights from January.

 

An amazing piano and vocal concert with Lou Simons took place in the living room on the afternoon of the 4th. Friday teas resumed on the 5th after a hiatus for the many festivities which were held in December. Local author, Nick Fonda, gave a presentation in the main living room on the afternoon of the 11th.

 

On the evening of the 15th, residents had the opportunity to watch two episodes of Father Knows Best on the large screens in the main living room. The December and January combined… Continue reading

The month of August meant more awesomeness throughout the Home. Some activities and offices were moved at the end of the month due to our renovations, which are progressing well. In addition to our usual monthly activities which include carpet bowling, bingo, church services and storytelling, here are some of this month’s highlights.

 

On the 2nd, the Masonic Lodge hosted a barbecue at the Wales Home for all residents and employees. We would like to thank them for this special treat. Following the delicious lunch of hotdogs, hamburgers, potato salad, coleslaw, lemonade and ice cream treats, a dance was held in the main dining room.

July was another great month at the Home. Here are some of our highlights.

 

On the 1st, a Canada Day barbecue and dance was held. The entertainment was provided by Jim Allen and Friends. On the 3rd, zootherapy was held on our nursing care units. This time the joyous menagerie included some young rabbits. On the 4th, Jim and Alice provided residents with musical entertainment in the living room. On the afternoon of the 6th, a special activity called ‘Let’s Talk Babies’ was held in the living room to celebrate our activity assistant Marie-Christine, and to share stories about raising children.  On the afternoon of the 13th, musical guests joined us in the living room… Continue reading

February arrived in a flurry of busyness. For our front of house expansion, it meant a significant change to the look of the building. We are pleased to see walls going up and cannot wait to see this project through to completion, which should be in September 2017.

 

Here are some of the highlights from our activity department:

Episodes of The Waltons were shown in the main living room on the big screen on the afternoon of the 3rd. The movie You’ve Got Mail was shown on the afternoon of the 6th. A Youtube music afternoon was enjoyed on the 9th. Pennie Lynch held a bake/craft sale on the afternoon of the 11th at the Home.… Continue reading

The new year has begun at the Home and all departments throughout the home have been bustling with busyness – including our construction crew which is working on our ‘Front of House’ expansion. Here are just some of January’s highlights.

 

The Christmas decorations came down this month and hearts, teddy bears and cupid’s arrow began appearing around the home in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

 

We re-launched knitter’s club on the 2nd. It is a chance for residents to get together and enjoy this craft in each other’s company on a weekly basis. Friday teas resumed on the 6th after a December hiatus due to all the holiday activities.
