The new year has begun at the Home and all departments throughout the home have been bustling with busyness – including our construction crew which is working on our ‘Front of House’ expansion. Here are just some of January’s highlights.


The Christmas decorations came down this month and hearts, teddy bears and cupid’s arrow began appearing around the home in celebration of Valentine’s Day.


We re-launched knitter’s club on the 2nd. It is a chance for residents to get together and enjoy this craft in each other’s company on a weekly basis. Friday teas resumed on the 6th after a December hiatus due to all the holiday activities.

The month of October was action packed at the Wales Home. The beautiful leaves outside made strolling around the building or gazing out the windows very appealing.


To begin the month, a dance took place in the main dining room on the 1st in celebration of International Senior’s Day. Our entertainers were Wayne Nutbrown and Friends. Episodes of the Lucy Show (on the 3rd) and the Red Skeleton Show (on the 6th) were enjoyed on the big screen in the living room.  Residents and their drivers enjoyed breakfast at the DeliTrain restaurant on the morning of the 4th. June was an extremely busy month. Here were our highlights:


On June 1st, we had a visit from grade one and grade five students from ADS Elementary. They joined residents in the living room for a craft, reading, chatting and refreshments. On the afternoon of the 3rd, Olive McCourt’s family hosted her memorial service at the Wales Home. The Fidelys choir gave a wonderful musical performance on the afternoon of the 4th. Boutique Diane held a clothing sale on the 9th. Our last painting class for this session also took place on the 9th. On the afternoon of the 9th, Jill den Hertog held an olive tasting event in the main living room.

March was another action packed month at the Wales Home. Ballet instructor Cynthia gave residents a beautiful demonstration in the living room on the afternoon of the 1st. Sugar on snow was enjoyed at noon on the 2nd by both residents and employees. A breakfast outing to the Deli Train Restaurant in Richmond took place on the morning of the 3rd. Painting classes with Marie-Lyne Fontaine also resumed on the 3rd. A knitter’s sale took place in the living room on the afternoon of the 3rd.
