September was a busy month for activities and renovations. Here are a few highlights.

Mario Bourassa provided residents with an amazing musical afternoon in the main dining room on the afternoon of the 7th. Friday teas resumed on the 8th after a summer break. The fall session of painting classes has also began on Thursday mornings. Bible study on Tuesday afternoons is also back in session. Boutique Diane held a clothing sale in the Shaw 1 solarium on the 9th. The Terry Fox walk was held on the afternoon of the 11th, and numerous employees and residents got outside to enjoy the sunshine and remember Terry and his legacy. Our 6th annual candlelight evening of memories will take place on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 7 PM in the main living room of the Wales Home.

Your generosity has helped us accomplish many projects!  In 2012, we sold 540 candles and last year we surpassed our goal of lighting over 1100. Your support has helped finance the purchase of numerous projects including a Sky Factory Image for Norton 2, equipment for our wellness room and last year the upcoming installation of TV Tours! This year our goal is to sell 1200 candles. The money will be used to update the solariums on Shaw 1 and Shaw 2 (new lighting, etc.)

Greetings from the activity department. March was another busy month. We are happy to have two stagiaires working with us – Eliza Jane Stevens and Noemi Beauregard. Painting classes resumed this month and in addition to our usual monthly activities, here are some of our highlights.

 

A breakfast outing to the Deli-Train Restaurant in Richmond was enjoyed on the morning of the 2nd. On the afternoon of the 2nd, a Daniel O’Donnell movie was shown in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Refreshments were also served. On the afternoon of the 3rd, World Day of Prayer was held in the living room. This year’s featured country was the Philippines. The new year has begun at the Home and all departments throughout the home have been bustling with busyness – including our construction crew which is working on our ‘Front of House’ expansion. Here are just some of January’s highlights.

 

The Christmas decorations came down this month and hearts, teddy bears and cupid’s arrow began appearing around the home in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

 

We re-launched knitter’s club on the 2nd. It is a chance for residents to get together and enjoy this craft in each other’s company on a weekly basis. Friday teas resumed on the 6th after a December hiatus due to all the holiday activities.
