Caregiver – Days/Evenings/Nights

 SALARY: $20.55-$22.35

Job description

The role of the caregiver is to assists the residents with their activities of daily living while respecting their level of autonomy, as outlined in the individual care plans.


  • Ensure the safety, comfort, nutritional and hygienic needs of residents are met
  • Encourage maintenance of autonomy and participation in social and leisure activities
  • Ensure family receive necessary support
  • Ensure that a “milieu de vie approach” is always respected


  • Adhere to and apply his/her deontological code
  • Adhere to and apply the Wales Home code of Ethics
  • Follow all policies in place at the Wales Home (Nursing/Human Resources/Administration)

**Any other task that meets and respects the employee’s capabilities that can contribute to the success and help achieve the goals of the department and of the mission of the Home**

Wanted profile

  • DEP in homecare
  • Able to read and speak in English fluently
  • C.P.R. and P.D.S.B. training
  • Genuine compassion and caring for seniors.
  • Good communication skills – capability to express oneself fluently in English

  • Attend daily team meetings
  • Understand and apply all procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety
  • Inform the team of the unit of any changes related to a resident
  • Contribute to the planning of daily activities for the resident
  • Attend and actively participate in floor meetings, shift meetings etc.
  • Ensure the quality of care by observing and reporting specific information related to resident i.e. emotional, physical, psychological etc. and report any relevant information to the Unit Manager/Head Nurse/Supervisor
  • Assists residents in all aspects of activities of daily living including but not limited to:
    • Bathing and all personal hygiene
    • Dressing, Feeding, toileting, physical exercise
    • Stimulate and encourage social interaction
    • Document activities of daily living
    • Report and record all incidents and accidents
    • Make beds and keeping residents’ space neat and tidy
    • Sorts and storing individual’s laundry
    • Specific duties as assigned by unit manager/LPN for individual shifts
    • Report all observations to Unit Manager or LPN/supervisor in charge
