RICHMOND COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY:
What we do:
In these days of physical distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, we collect memories. The Richmond County Historical Society is among several organizations gathering and preserving our experiences, feelings, and isolation realities for our archives and future research. The intent is to assemble testimonials on the pandemic's effects, primarily locally in the Richmond County and beyond. This social documentation will be presented on our new website, www.rchs-shcr.ca, Facebook page, and in our archives.
How you can help:
The community is invited to submit letters, photos of people and objects, videos, diaries, poems, drawings, etc. to show the life you are currently experiencing. What does you day look like? Have you developed a new skill such as bread-making or knitting? Have you returned to hobbies from long ago? How are your children and grandchildren feeling about this change in lifestyle? How is your business affected? How are seniors coping both living at home or in a residence? How has your life changed if you are unemployed? As a healthcare worker, how are you coping? Construbutions from any age are encouraged; for further information, please contact me at president@rchs-shcr.ca or norma.husk@gmail.com. We make history each day; sharing our stories is important to pass them on to future generations.
