Hello coworkers,
I hope you are well and enjoying the nice weather! We have seen some beautiful, sunny days recently, but with the cool, comfortable fall breezes... I love September!
covid-19 and deconfinement - reminder:
Since July 18th, masks have been mandatory in closed public spaces. This safety measure exists to prevent the spread of droplets that could cause COVID-19 transmission. Please make sure you acknowledge and apply the recommendations below. Please note that this advice does not apply to CHSLD residents.
- Please wear your mask when you leave the Wales grounds
- You do not have to wear your mask when walking outside alone. Please wear one if accompanied.
- Please wear a mask when walking to and from the Dining/Living Rooms. You may take your mask off once you're seated.
- I recommend you wear your mask when walking in hallways
- If you regroup for an activity, please wear your mask until you are seated at a safe two-metre distance from others.
- Masks are mandatory in the Hair Salon and the Tuck Shop
- You will be screened for symptoms for fourteen days if you leave the Wales for more than twenty-four hours
- You will be on isolation for fourteen days if you remain in the hospital for more than twenty-four hour
- Admissions will be on preventive isolation for fourteen days with no exceptions. We have been COVID-19-free since March and want to keep the virus out. We may come in contact with a person who tested positive and not even know. Apartment residents are permitted to do their laundry in the communal spaces if they wear a mask and apply proper hand hygiene.
- You do not need to wear a mask if you have a breathing condition.
Please remember that you may visit another resident but you need to register at the front door as a visitor and wear your mask during your visit. I also do not recommend cards or other games where you share pieces like puzzles and board games.
I know and understand that these measures are difficult and inconvenient, but they allow you to see people. If you choose not to wear a mask as per government regulations, we might have to close the Dining Room again and halt activities; instead, let us work together to avoid a second confinement period. We have been safe so far, but with the influx of visitors and resident outings, we cannot be too careful. Each person who enters the Wales presents an additional risk.
Deliveries are now permitted from restaurants and stores. Visitors can also bring goods and restaurant food directly to residents. Outside of visiting hours, deliveries must be left at door number one. Visitors are still not permitted to eat and drink at the Wales or on its grounds since they must keep their mask for the duration of their visit. We still have a zero tolerance policy where masks are concerned
MASSAGE THERAPIST, LOUISE PORIER:
Louise is authorized to return to the Wales and will resume her services on Mondays starting on September 14th, although her schedule is subject to change according to her availabilities. Please understand that her services will not be as accessible due to space restrictions; since we no longer have a designated space for massage therapy, she will offer her services in each residents' room or apartment. The resident's space must therefore be large enough to accommodate her massage table or chair. She will also need to disinfect her equipment between residents, so she may not have time to see as many residents as usual. Thank you for your understanding; please know that if you are refused her services, the denial is for your safety.
visitors - final warning:
Please be informed that we still have many issues with visitors. Unfortunately, many people believe that the COVID-19 pandemic is behind us, which is simply not the case. We still intervene daily with visitors who do not respect our measures and regulations, so starting this month, I will close our doors to visitors without notice if the situation does not improve immediately, as the risks and potential consequences are simply too great. We have given many warnings and chances to rectify the situation. Visitors are not respecting proper distancing, proper mask etiquette, or the no-contact policy. They are also bringing unauthorized objects into residents' spaces. A few weeks ago, we were forced to call the police due to a visitor's belligerance. Please know that this type of intervention is very stressful and frustrating for our employees. Our employees have made outstanding sacrifices to protect our residents. We need visitors to be on board to ensure our residents' safety.
