RENOVATIONS:
We will soon resume renovations on the unrenovated bedrooms on Manning and Shaw 1 and 2. This project should be completed in 2021. I would like to thank you in advance for your patience during the renovation process.
LAUNDRY:
I was recently made aware that some residents are hoarding towels and face cloths, thereby creating supply shortages for others. Thank you for following regulations; there is no need to accumulate, as we have sufficient supplies. Please see the chart below for additional information.
Year | Number of additional new face cloths given | Total |
2017 | 200 | 200 |
2018 | 451 | 651 |
2019 (including Central's supplies) | 512 | 1,163 |
2020 | 710 | 1,873 |
RESIDENT/FAMILY MEETING:
Due to the pandemic, there will be no resident and family meeting before 2021. Information will be addressed through monthly newsletters.
OUTINGS:
Please remember that you must register if you leave the building for personal errands, medical appointments, or family outings. Apartment and Shaw 4 residents must register at door number three. Shaw and Manning 1 and 2 residents must register with their nurse as usual. These logs will be vital if the need for contact tracing arises at the Wales; if you become infected with the virus, the government will need to infrom people with whom you have been in contact.
WALES HOME FOUNDATION CAMPAIGN LAUNCH:
Due to the pandemic, the scheduled Campaign Launch event at the Wales has been cancelled.
COVID-19:
Please ensure you follow Public Health regulations as we are now in the virus's second wave, which is expected to be worse than the first. Currently, the Estrie is classified as the "warning stage," but if infections continue to increase, our community will again enter self-isolation and visitors will not be permitted at the Wales except for humanitarian purposes. Please remember to wash your hands before you leave your room and upon your return. Please wear your mask over your nose and mouth when outside of your room. According to Public Health, the only people who are exempt from wearing a mask are those with facial disfiguration, which does not apply to any of our residents, or those who cannot apply or remove their masks independently due to dementia.
Please remember that residents are prohibited from entering the construction zone during working hours: Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The roads utilized by construction workers are also forbidden during these hours. These locations are in the back parking lot.
If the Wales must return to self-isolation mode, one natural caregiver per resident will be permitted to visit unless a resident is palliative. Government regulations change frequently, often daily, and we work hard to inform you of alterations as soon as possible.
