GENERAL VOLUNTEERING:
We cannot have too many volunteers! There are a number of roles I can explore with you if you are interested, such as an early evening volunteer on Norton 1. Please contact Carol Ann.
Volunteers are now permitted to return to the Wales, and what a welcome sight they have been for residents! Thank you to our volunteers.
DVDS:
If you have DVDs that you would like to share with or donate to the Wales, please contact the Activity Department. We would also appreciate musicals. Thank you for the many doantions received.
PUZZLES:
We are searching for puzzles with 750 pieces or less as the larger ones are too difficult for many of our residents. Thank you for those who donated.
LOW VISION/MOBILITY DIFFICULTIES:
If any residents have low vision or mobility difficulties for attending activities or reading the calendars or menus, please let us know. We may be able to adapt to help you! We recently purchased two talking readers for residents with low vision. These are little audio book players that Kim Bailey and Carol Ann will share with residents.
CHSLD USERS' COMMITTEE REPRESENTATIVE:
Judy Laberee is the CHSLD Users' Committee representative. If you wish to speak with her, please call her at 819-826-3486 or email her at judy@laberee.com.
ASSISTANCE FOR RESIDENTS IN DISTRESS:
If you find a resident in distress due to a fall or other emergency, please push your or their tag button. We do not want you to harm the resident or yourself by trying to assist them; please wait for personnel to arrive.
PASTORAL CARE PROVIDER:
Reverand Wayne Beamer is at the Wales Home once per week. Reverand Wayne's presence is part of the Richmond United Church's Ministry for one year. If you need Reverand Wayne's ministry, please contact him at 819-578-0556.
TV TOUR:
Wales Home news can be viewed on channel eighty on your television. I put a number of different things there on TV Tours. If you have a request, please let me know and I will investigate the possibility; I received numerous inquiries that turned out to be feasible.
LIBRARY:
With residents self-isolating on their units, books might not be as accessible. If you would like something new to read, please let the Activity Department know and we will do what we can to help you out.
VIRTUAL RESIDENT EXCHANGES:
We wonder if any residents would appreciate virtual visits with each other. The Activity Department recently won an iPad which would facilitate these interactions. If you are interested, please let us know.
HUG EXPERIMENT:
Manning and Shaw residents participated in a hug experiment during the month of March. Prior to starting activities, I have been asking residents to open their arms wide and hug themselves with intention, since so many of us have gone an entire year without a hug. I will announce the findings in next month's Chatter.
DON MARTIN TRIVIA RESULTS:
Keith Baldwin is the winner of the Don Martin trivia contest originating in Melbourne, Ontario! Congratulations on your prize, Keith!
EASTER MEMORIES:
We would love to hear about special Easter memories if you have any to share!
BILLIARD ROOM:
If anyone wants to play pool in the Billiard Room, please let us know. Carol Ann and Zach can each play with one resident at a time ensuring safety measures are maintained.
WEATHER:
The weather is slowly improving and so is our desire to go outside! If you wish to go out and need assistance, please let us know!
LOST AND FOUND:
If your Family Members leave you items at door number one, please ask them to properly identify the items.
VACATIONS:
Carol Ann will be on vacation the week of April 5th and Marie-Christine will be on vacation the week of April 19th.
