Hello,
Once again, we have gone through another outbreak. Again, thank you so much for your dedication to the residents and your colleagues. What more can I say, we are extremely lucky to have such great employees. Thank you so much.
HUMAN RESOURCES (HR)/EMPLOYEE MEETING:
There will be HR/Employee meetings on Wednesday, March 1st, 2023 at the following times:
- 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.: Mitchell Board Room
- 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.: Main Dining Room

The meeting's goals are:

- To discuss the Employee Relations Committee (ERC)
- To address your questions and concerns on these topics
HR REORGANIZATION:
Having sufficient manpower in HR makes a difference. We are still adjusting to each person's responsibilities in the department, and we are starting to engage in HR tasks that we have not been able to tackle in quite a while. If you miss the HR/Employee meetings mentioned above, the minutes will be available on Public: Q:\Minutes to meetings\HR-Employees meeting and will be posted on the Agendrix newsfeed.
We are also preparing for the CHSLD harmonization as much as we can. Meetings will be planned to share information.
ERC:
As will be discussed in the HR/Employee meeting, if you wish to join the ERC, please submit your name to Katy St-Cyr at kscyr@waleshome.ca or 819-826-3266 extension 225 by Friday, March 17th, 2023.
RECRUITMENT:
Immigration employees:
Nothing ahs changed since last month. Below, you will find our expectations for these employees joining our team:
Job Title | Employee file with Sebastien Aubé | Employee file with ISA firm |
Caregivers |
|
8 should arrive next fall |
Nurses | 6 should arrive next fall
Food Services employees |
1 should arrive in about 2 months 1 should arrive in 3 to 5 months 1 should arrive in 9 months |
4 should arrive before the summer |
Maintenance employee | 1 should arrive in 9 months |
The immigration process is complicated, so the timeframe can change, but at this time, these are the expected delays.
Administration Positions:
The Nursing Director recruitment is still ongoing. We are confident we will find a candidate among those interviewed.
Interviews for the two Unit Managers did not lead to any hires. Other candidates will be interviewed soon.
For the Executive Assistant position, no candidates successfully completed theselection process. The job is still posted.
AGENDRIX:
I want to thank you for your collaboration in this new scheduling tool's implementation. Clocking in and out is a new habit to initiate but we will get there - we are much better than we were in the beginning. We processed the first pay for the clinical staff in mid-February. We had a few issues, which is quite normal, as processing the pay for clinical employees is more complicated due to premiums and the sheer number of employees. Most issues are solved. The first pay in March will allow us to apply corrections. We might still have issues, but again, they will be addressed promptly. Thank you for your comprehension.
HUMAN RESOURCES INDICATORS FROM SUNDAY, JANUARY 1ST, 2023 TO SATURDAY, JANUARY 28TH, 2023:
The list below contains different indicators' highlights. For more details, please see the tables below.
- Globally, we hired eight new employees and none left; we have six more Food Services employees, one more Administration employee, and one more clinical aide. We are still collaborating with agencies to fill our missing shifts
- During this period, thirty-five employees tested positive for COVID-19, twenty-two more than the previous period, leading to 106 shifts to be replaced
- Compared to the last As the Wales Turns edition, shifts left uncovered increased 3.5 percent or ninety-eight shifts; these statistics are good, as we had more employees off work due to COVID-19 (twenty-two more for a total of thirty-five)
- We have twenty-four uncovered positions, including four in Administration. The table below shows these uncovered positions' impact:
Administration | Clinical and Non-Clinical Schedules
Uncovered Positions | Uncovered Shifts Per Week | Uncovered Positions | Uncovered Shifts Per Week |
4 (↓1) | 20 (↓5) | 20 (↑3) | 85 (↑14) |
- Call-ins decreased nineteen percent with ten less for a total of forty-four. Considering that we had twenty-three more employees who tested positive for COVID-19, adecrease of ten call-ins needs to be considered an improvement. In fact, if we had not had thirty-five employees test positive for COVID-19, the number of call-ins would fall to nine. Here are the highlights:
- The day with the most call-ins was Monday, January 2nd, 2023 with four. The following dates had three call-ins:
- Sunday, January 8th, 2023
- Monday, January 16th, 2023
- Sunday, January 21st, 2023
- Call-ins decreased significantly on night shift
- Call-ins decreased significantly for nurses and increased significantyl for housekeepers and clinical aides
- The day with the most call-ins was Monday, January 2nd, 2023 with four. The following dates had three call-ins:
- Overall, overtime increased significantly. The important increase of missing shifts for which COVID-19 is highly responsible and the many shifts that we were able to cover explains the overtime. Significant increases in overtime are noted for caregivers, LPNs, Food Services employees, and Kitchen employees

Overtime percentages must be interpreted cautiously. The greater the number of hours, the more the percentage is valid.
