“My mom is a resident at the CHSLD Wales, and I am very fortunate to be able to visit her twice per week. In the last three years, the large “family” here has made this journey of accompanying my mom, who suffers from dementia, a very rich and meaningful human experience for me. There have been tears accompanied by care and support, as well as laughter, songs, and frequent joy! For some time now, the only tears that fill my eyes are ones of deep gratitude for what I witness during my visits. Residents are each called by their names, spoken to softly, comforted and reassured, and known and respected as unique individuals by their caregivers and everyone working here, including the happy and friendly volunteers! I repeatedly witness Planetree objectives being lived out concretely: compassion in action! I am so grateful that my mom is here!”
