christmas basket - a work of compassion:
Despite the pandemic, the Christmas Basket Committee is presently planning to help families in need in the Richmond area during the holiday season. To protect their volunteers and beneficiairies, this year the Committee will work with Les Tabliers en folie by giving Maxi purchase vouchers. These receipts will not allow the acquisition of alcohol, tobacco products, lottery tickets, or pet food. Anyone wishing to make a monetary donation can do so by either cheque or cash, which can be given to Kristie at Reception. Cheques should be addressed to the Christmas Basket Committee. Last year, the Committee distributed a Christmas basket to one hundred families consisting of 176 adults and forty-seven children.

ChriSTMAS PARTY:
The Wales annual Christmas Party is back this year after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19. The gathering will take place on Friday, December 9th, 2022 at Lussier Belgians, just a two-minute drive from the Wales. Sign-up sheets have been posted throughout the building, so please do not forget to reguster if you wish to attend - please note that your partner is also invited! If you are coming, please bring your own beverages and I encourage you to wear your best Christmas-themed clothing, as there will be a contest! Hailey Wilson-Veilleux and Joeline McLaughlin have already drawn one half-and-half winner - congratulations, Allen! - and will be circulating twice more before teh party, so you have other opportunities to participate in this advantageous fundraiser for the event.
Tickets are $2.00 for one or $5.00 for three. Karen Banfill is spearheading a Christmas Party Committee that will be responsible for planning the event. If you wish to take part, please contact her. Thank you in advance to the employees involved in this party's organization!
CHSLD:
We are currently finalizing the CHSLD contract with the MSSS. Once we have the details, a General Employee Meeting will be scheduled to inform employees of changes, including who will be affected, when alterations will occur, and how they will be implemented.
EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT:
At the end of November, Dayle Armstrong will be leaving us. Although she particularly likes both the Wales residents and employees, her current position turned out to be very different from her expectations and does not correspond with her desired occupation. She will be leaving the Wales at the end of the month to pursue her career elsewhere. I wish her the best in her future professional endeavours! Recruitment for her replacement is already underway.
MANNING 1 AND 2 RENOVATIONS:
The current Manning 1 and 2 room renovations are expected to be completed by the end of the November. Once finished, we will have four completely new rooms per unit: two medium and one large with washrooms and one suite equipped with a shower. There will also be a laundry room on each unit for resident use. The temporary walls in the sitting room across from the nursing station will be removed for full use. Once again, I apologize for the incovnenience these renovations have caused to those living and working on the units.
