HEAT WAVE:
Hello, I hope you are well and enjoying the nice weather! Please be careful and do not stay outside for long periods of time; remain inside in cool, ventilated spaces. Please remember to drink water more frequently.
deconfinement:
I know the situation has improved a lotm but COVID-19 is still a reality and the pandemic is not over. Since July 18th, wearing a mask is mandatory in closed public spaces. This safety measure prevents outbreaks by avoiding droplets' spread that could cause COVID-19 transmission. Please ensure you acknowledge and apply the following recommendations; please note this advice does not apply to CHSLD residents.
- Please wear a mask when you leave the Wales property
- If you are walking outside alone, you do not need to wear a mask
- You must wear a mask when walking to the Dining Room for meals. You can remove it once you are seated, but please put it back on when you leave.
- Please wear a mask when walking in the hallways
- If you are regrouping for an activity, please wear your mask until you are safely seated two metres apart
- Masks are mandatory in the Hair Salon and Tuck Shop
- You will be screened for symptoms for fourteen days if you leave the Wales for more than twenty-four hours to see family or friends
- You will be put on isolation for two weeks if you remain at the hospital for more than twenty-four hours
- You do not have to wear a mask if you have breathing conditions.
Residents can visit each other, but you need to register at the front door as a visitor and wear your mask during your visit. We do not recommend that you play cards or other games where you must share items, like puzzles and board games.
I know and undertand that these measures are difficult and inconvenient, but they allow you to socialize. If you chose not to abide by government mask-wearing regulations, we might have to close the Dining Room and stop activities again, so let us work together until the virus subsides. I know we have been safe so far, and I know that we do not have any cases at the Wales, but we accommodate many external visitors and there are a lot of residents who go out as well. Each person who comes in or goes out of the Wales represents an additional risk.
We can now accept restaurant and goods deliveries at the Wales. Visitors can also deliver these items directly to your room during visiting hours. Outside of visiting hours, items must be left at door number one. Visitors are still not permitted to eat and drink at the Wales as they must wear their mask for the duration of their visit. We still have a zero tolerance policy for non-compliance with mask regulations. Visitors are still not permitted to bring fresh food like fruits and vegetables, refrigerated goods, homemade meals, or food and drinks for themselves. Please understand that these measures are subject to change and what is permitted today might be prohibited tomorrow.
vacation:
I will be on vacation from Friday, July 31st until Monday, August 17th. In case of emergency, please contact your Head Nurse, Supervisor, or Brendalee. Thank you again for your support and continuous understanding!
