PLANETREE:
Last time the Planetree Committee met was June 18th, the first time since March 12th, when we had our last meeting before self-isolation recommendations. We can agree this period has been challenging for our residents, their families, our fellow employees, and our families.
A lot has been asked of us, but there really was not much of a choice. That this building has been our safe bubble for five and a half months demonstrates our loyalty and dedication to the Wales. When I read and hear stories about other CHSLDs in Québec, I am grateful that we did not live through their horrors.
At our June meeting, we shared our feelings and the stress associated with potentially bringing the virus into the Wales. We spoke about Vicky's leadership and Brendalee's regular updates. Now, cases are beginning to rise again, especially among young adults. School resumed and there are already cases reported in these areas. People are tired, yet we cannot give up now. We must be ready for a second wave.
We have not had the opportunity for retreats or other fun Planetree-driven activities, but you continue to demonstrate that Planetree is alive and well at the Wales. We care for the reisdents and their family members like they are part of our own families. I hope we continue to look out for each other and be kind, patient, and encouraging to keep each other safe.
