chsld harmonization:
We continue to virtually meet with the Ministère de la santé et des services sociaux weekly to finalize the harmonization process of our CHSLD from "privé non-conventionné" to "privé conventionné." We expect to sign the contract with the government by mid-February. Once the agreement is signed, Chantal will hold meetings to confirm the new employee ratios and explain what changes affect you as employees. This process has been very long, but we are close to the finish line.
main dining room clarifications:
Apartment residents who have meals included in their rent or who purchase meal cards are qualified for meals only. Snacks and bringing extra helpings back to their apartments are not included. If homemade soup is served as the main course at supper, there is an alternate soup available to accommodate potential dislikes and allergies. For the daily soups served as entrées or alternates, however, there is only one option per night. Residents were reminded that the Main Dining Room staff are extremely busy and unfortunately do not have time to cook additional soups during mealtimes. We also advised them that if they would like to modify their likes and dislikes list, they are to contact a Kitchen staff member between meals so they can make the change in the resident's file and inform the rest of the employees involved.
SATISFACTION SURVEY:
The Users' Committee is responsible for assessing resident satisfaction with services via the Satisfaction Survey. Residents and their representatives will be asked to complete such a questionnaire on quality, care, and services offered by both the Résidence Wales Home and CHSLD Wales Inc.. Opportunities for improvement will be assessed and, if necessary, an action plan will be developed and implemented. Residents and family members will be asked to complete a short survey on the quality of our pandemic handling; the surveys will be the same as last year's. Please encourage residents to complete the surveys.
THE ROSS:
Please note that, even though the walkway between Shaw and the Ross is now open, the Ross building is still under construction, therefore we ask that residents and employees do not enter the Ross. The walkway is currently reserved for Ross residents who come to the Main Dining Room for meals and Supervisors for emergency purposes. If needed, please remind residents that access to the building and amenities is restricted to Ross residents only.
For those of you who are interested in seeing the building, we will hold an Open House, including a complete tour, this spring when the building is complete. We will inform you of the date when details are finalized.
WALES HISTORY:
The Wales Home was founded as a residence for Protestant seniors of the Eastern Townships by a Québec Legislature act in 1921. This initiative originated through the late Horace Pettes Wales's will, a successful Richmond merchant who died in 1918. He bequeathed his 162-acre farm and money to fund a home for Anglophone seniors. On March 17th, 1922, the first resident, Mr. Chas Mackie, moved into the Wales. The original building, now dubbed Central, was constructed to accommodate forty-one residents. The original policy regaridng religion and territorial boundaries was abandoned in 1992, after which seniors were accepted regardless of previous domicile, religion, or language. The Wales Home is recognized by the government as the first seniors' residence in Québec and is designated as a healthcare facility for English-speaking individuals.
