VISITS AT THE WALES:
The rules for visitors changed effective June 29th; appointments are no longer required. The schedule for visits is as follows:
- From Monday, June 29th to Sunday, July 5th: Visits are open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Starting July 6th:
- Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Friday to Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Please note that there will be no visits between 9:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. and between 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on any day.
Sanitary measures including proper respiratory etiquette, hand washing for twenty seconds, two-metre distancing, and face coverings must be respected.
PROCEDURE FOR ALL VISITS:
- Seven days per week
- Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Indoor visitors must leave the building by 7:30 p.m. Visitors, indoor and out, must leave the grounds by 8:00 p.m.
- Friday to Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Indoor and visitors must leave the building by 3:30 p.m. Visitors, indoor and outdoor, must leave the grounds by 4:00 p.m.
- Visitors must present themselves at door number one (front entrance) during visiting hours. Please respect a two-metre distance, including prior and during the screening process. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.
- Anyone who does not respect these measures will lose their visting privileges
- Prior to visiting, please change into clean clothes and avoid doing errands before coming to the Wales.
- No personal items are permitted onsite during visits; please leave your things at home or in your car, including your purse and cell phone
- Visitors are not permitted to bring food on the premises.
- Visitors must wear their own personal mask
- The Wales will not provide masks; if you do not have one, your visit will not be authorized
- Visors/face shields are not a suitable replacement for a mask.
- Prior to visiting, please wait outside, while respecting a two-metre distance; lines are identified on the pavement
- If the Visit Coordinator is not at her desk, please do not enter the building.
- Visitors must wait outside until staff is present to greet you.
- Use of hand sanitizer upon entering the building is mandatory
- Visitors will be evaluated and screened for symptoms upon entrance. If you do not pass the judgment, you will be asked to leave the grounds. Please comply with recommendations.
- Visitors must register their name and times of entry and exit in the visitor log
- In the event of a COVID-19 outbreak at the Wales, Piblic Health must be able to track visitors
- Prior to visiting, visitors will be asked to wash their hands with soap and water for twenty seconds
- Visitors ust go directly to the resident's room (no socializing in the hallways)
- Visitors must maintain a two-metre distance with emplopyees and other residents
- Visitors must wash their hands with soap and water for twenty seconds upon entering the resident's room (second hand washing since arrival)
- Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
PROCEDURE FOR indoor VISITS:
- Maximum one visitor per resident, or two visitors from the same household
- Visitors must remain in the resident's room; common areas are forbidden during social calls. If family members would like to speak with the Nurse or the LPN, they must call the unit prior to or after the visit.
- Visitors are not permitted to hug, kiss, or shake hands with residents; they must remain two metres apart
- Visitors must wash their hands before leaving the resident's room and go directly to door number one
- Visitors must register the time of their exit in the visitor's log; please respect physical distancing if another person is signing the log
PROCEDURE FOR outdoor VISITS:
- Please follow the above procedure for "All visits"
- Maximum ten visitors from no more than three households are permitted, and each household must remain two metres apart from the resident, other visitors, and employees
- If you need to accompany the resident ouside, you must go directly to the resident's room and immediately escort the resident outside. Once outside, you must either sit or walk while maintaining a two-metre distance
- Residents must return to their unit by 3:30 p.m. Visitors must sign the log prior to leaving.
general reminders:
- Masks must be worn from the moment you exit your vehicle to the moment you get back in your car.
- Visitors are not allowed to eat or drink during visits as they cannot remove their mask while at the Wales.
- Reusable face covers must be washed after each use.
- Visitors must screen themselves for symptoms daily (symptoms and temperature are described here).
- Please do not visit if you have any cold- or flu-like symptoms or active allergies; we cannot differentiate between colds and allergies.
- Please do not visit if you have been in contact with someone that has COVID-19 or is pending results or if you have been contacted by Public Health services for a possible COVID-19 contact. Please respect qurantine periods.
- Gifts or items for residents: Please leave well-identified items in a plastic bin outside of door number one. Articles will be disinfected and delivered to the resident after twenty-four hours. Please do not bring perishable items.
outings with friends/family members:
Residents must respect a two-metre distance, whether the visit is inside or outside
- Outings are permitted, including overnight (must be within the Estrie)
- The LPN or Nurse must be advised of the resident's outing and its expected duration prior to the resident leaving the building
- Residents must wash their hands before leaving their room and upon entry to the Wales building
- If the resident does not drive their own vehicle, they must sit alone in the back seat of the car. Both resident and driver must wear a mask.
- Restaurant outings are not suggested as the resident cannot wear a mask while eating
- Residents living in Shaw/Manning are to be picked up at door number three only; the driver is not allowed inside the Wales and must wait outside. Outing hours need to be documented in the log at door number three for tracing in case of a COVID-19 outbreak
- CHSLD residents must be picked up on their unit (please follow the "Outdoor visit" procedure)
- Residents who leave the grounds will be screened for symptoms and have their temperature taken daily for fourteen days upon their return
Please understand that the pandemic is not over. Respect of sanitary measures is crucial to prevent an outbreak at the Wales. At this point, prevention is all of our responsibilities. Proper hand hygiene with soap and water for twenty seconds is still the best way to protect yourself. Please wear a mask during outings and visits, whether inside or outside.

HAND HYGIENE TECHNIQUES:
- Please wash your hands effectively for at least twenty seconds
- Please remember, soap and water is more effective than disinfectant
- Please do not use a towel to dry your hands when using hand sanitizer; rub your hands until they are dry
